Magellan Hand Held GPS Devices: Heading in the Right Direction
Don’t get me wrong… I hate sales pitchy articles. They rarely tell the truth, and by the time you have read the article in its entirety, you are less convinced that the product you are looking for would actually be conducive for the task at hand. I am not writing a sales pitchy article, I am just a customer that has a story, though embarrassing in a few parts, about Magellan hand held GPS devices.
I purchased my first Magellan hand held GPS device a few months ago and placed it in my car. My reputation for getting lost during crucial events apparently precedes me, as all of my friends and even a few of my family members have started preferring riding with other people when we all have somewhere to go. This no longer offends me, though it did for many years. No, the reason it no longer offends me is because they are right! This was my reason I purchase a Magellan hand held GPS system, and boy, am I glad I did!
I was driving home from work only a few weeks ago and found myself in a rather uncomfortable position. Let’s just say that eating fast food late at night before commencing a 25 mile drive is not the best thing for my system. I needed to find a bathroom and quick! Fairly new to the area, I had no clue where the nearest gas station was, so I read a few of the street signs that suggested to me that a bathroom was only a few short miles away. Well, for a man that was in my position, a few short miles seemed like I would have to spend eternity in the bowls of a trout: it’s cramped, tight and extremely hard to breath. Eventually I arrived at the designated exit to find that the signage I had read was outdated! Frustrated, I stopped the car in hopes that I could just walk it off… it got worse.
Remembering my Magellan hand held GPS purchase, I reached into the glove box and turned to the Gas application. Ironic, I know, but this application told me where to find an open gas station! To my amazement, I had passed a gas station only a mile or so down the road! It literally saved my life!
I realize that this story was not one of the best stories I could of shared, but it was one of the more critical times the Magellan hand held GPS device pulled through for me. Along with the Gas application, I realized that it also has a restaurant application, voice command applications for hands off access to direction information. Needless to say, it is not longer being stored in my glove box.
