Hand Held GPS Systems: Could They Be Any more Confusing
One thing is for sure: when it comes to purchasing a hand held GPS system, they should all come with a tag saying “be prepared to be confused!” It is almost like they were built off of a design originally developed on another planet, it is just that alien to me. There are a few companies that developed their line of hand held GPS systems with people like me in mind (technologically inept), and it is to that end that I am writing this little blurb.
One of the companies that I have come to truly admire is Garmin. They provide hand held GPS lines that not only have people like me in mind, they actually make people like me feel even more intelligent than we really are. For example, one of the hand held GPS devices Garmin has released recently has a touch screen menu, making it extremely simple to access all of the applications with a single swish of the index finger. I like that! Icons, images representing all of the available applications, as well as the unlimited amount of updating of the base map directory from the Garmin website… I may never feel unprepared on the golf course again.
Another company that has made quite an impression on me is Magellan. They provide a wide range of hand held GPS travel companions designed to assist drivers by directing them to the places they desire to go. Their hand held GPS devices also come equipped with Voice Command, another great application that allows you to tell the device where you want to go without even touching the device itself. Automatically redirecting you to the location you desire to be with a single voice command… another awesome line of hand held GPS systems.
These are just a few of the companies that I have found reliable, though I am sure there are many other reliable companies out there. A few of the companies I have heard many praise reports from include DeLorme and Leupold. These two companies offer a wide range of services, included everything mentioned above, though I do not know how their hand held GPS systems operate. That said, I hope this article has assisted you in making the right decision, as well as to sort through all of the marketing jargon that has flooded the corporate world recently.
