Hand Held GPS Navigation, Not on the Menu

Have you ever avoided purchasing a product out of fear that you just might not understand how it works?  Trust me… I have been there!  The technology that is being developed lately all seems to be lairing off of its previous generational model, making it even more difficult to grasp for those of us that either do not have the money to purchase different systems off the cuff, or for those of us that just do not deal well with highly technological devices.  When it comes to GPS systems, however, the need for them is growing rapidly, especially with the ever expanding world reaching an all time high regarding development and population.  That said, the question of whether or not we will be able to understand the hand held GPS navigation menu is actually a question with a rather simple answer.

It all depends on the particular system, brand name and company you are purchasing from.  Garmin, for example, has specifically designed many of their GPS products in order to cater to people like us, that is, they have started considering the fact that there are people out there that have absolutely no clue how these high tech devices work!  Many of their hand held GPS navigation menus can be access through Touch Screen Technology, making it even easier to access all of the system’s applications with the swish of your index finger.  I attempted to use one of these devices and, much to my surprise, Garmin has truly developed a user friendly line of GPS products.

Another company that comes highly recommended for the technologically inept is Magellan.  Their products stir more towards auto navigation.  For example, Magellan provides a hand held GPS navigation command system called Voice Command.  One of my friends offered to drive me to the airport a few weeks back.  This actually startled me, as I knew he was new to the area and had never even been to the airport before.  Nervous that he would not get me there on time, I printed off directions from mapquest.com and placed them on my lap after we left the house.  He looked at me and stole my one safeguard, crumbled it up and threw it on his back seat.  He then pulled out his Magellan hand held GPS navigation device and said the word “airport.”  It automatically turned on the navigation system and started directing us in the way we needed to go.  We made it with time to spare.

You see, hand held GPS navigation is not as hard as we originally thought it was.  Actually, it has made my life a lot easier since I attempted to use the products that I so adamantly stated I would never use.  You should definitely look into it!
