Are All “Best Hand Held GPS” Advertisements True?
No… no, they are not, but one must wonder why. The GPS market has become so overly saturated, causing all of the competition to start stating things that are nowhere near intended to assist the customers in locating the best hand held GPS for them, but rather to motive customers to purchase their product in order to beat out their corporate rivalries. This is obvious, I understand, but what is less than obvious is how to determine which GPS system is the best hand held GPS for your needs. The answers to these questions are almost as equally obvious.
The first thing that one must consider is what you are truly looking for in your GPS device. Are you looking for a device that will assist with your traveling needs? If that is the case, then you are not going to want all of the extra features that most of the best hand held GPS systems carry, such as a WAAS enabled GPS receiver, designed solely to pinpoint your position while exploring the wondrous planes of Mother Nature, or a distance sensory system, designed to measure the yardage between your golf ball and the ninth hole. The best hand held GPS that would assist this endeavor would include applications like Restaurant Finder and Hotel Finder, for example. So many customers have posted nasty reviews for their hand held GPS devices, and all because they did not conduct any level of market research. As a result, these customers started expecting things from their GPS devices that they were not designed to offer.
Now that you understand what you are going to expect to get out of your GPS system, the time has come to figure out which company to trust. There are three companies that I have come to label as reliable: Garmin, DeLorme and Leupold. I have purchased products from these companies and have found that their products carry a desired level of quality, as well as a wide variety of applications and devices that meet the needs of the masses. I am not perfect, however, so if you have a great track record with another company, then by all means… go with them! So long as you know what will be the best hand held GPS device for your needs and which company you can trust, you are golden!
Now comes the third and final phase: the purchase. Buying these devices directly from the companies website may get a little too costly, so we need a method of purchasing these devices without paying the high prices that come automatically as a result of the company’s logo. Amazon.com, Buy.com, all of the online retail stores usually carry a wide range of GPS devices at fairly reasonable prices. Research this fact and compare the listed prices already listed on the company’s website and, again, do the obvious… purchase the cheaper one!
